When Times Are Tough: Help Is Available

From time to time, members of our community may face unexpected financial hardship. Whether it is a medical situation, employment changes, or simply a difficult stretch, these circumstances can make it challenging to keep up with regular bills. If this happens, please know that the Association understands that these situations arise and encourages members to communicate early so that we can work together toward a solution.

If you anticipate difficulty making a payment, the most important step you can take is to contact the Office of the Treasurer at the beginning of the situation, rather than waiting until the account becomes severely past due. In many cases, good faith payments and a simple payment plan can help keep accounts on track while providing members the time they need to regain stability. Our goal is always to maintain service while working cooperatively with members facing temporary hardship.

There are also several community organizations that work together locally to assist residents with utility and household expenses. These agencies may be able to provide support depending on individual circumstances.

Before reaching out to them, members are asked to first confirm with the Office of the Treasurer, as we maintain updated information about these programs and can help direct you to the resource most likely to be helpful for your situation.

Community assistance resources include:

Saint Vincent De Paul — (425) 355-3504
Stanwood Community & Senior Center (services available to all ages) — (360) 629-7403
Community Resource Foundation — (360) 629-5257

Every situation is different, and these organizations often coordinate with one another to assist households experiencing temporary hardship.

Most importantly, please remember that it is okay to ask for help. Reaching out early allows us to work together constructively and prevents situations from becoming more difficult than they need to be. Our community is strongest when we support one another, and we encourage anyone experiencing difficulty to communicate with the Office of the Treasurer so that we can help identify the best path forward.
